Build Up of the Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was the war between he North of Vietnam and the South. The North was communist and the South was not, but the leader of North Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, wanted to change that, so started to invade South Vietnam. Vietnam was under the control of France, and the North was tired of the poor conditions they were given. The U.S eventually deiced to take France's side because they had been allies for so long, this also meant helping out South Vietnam. They would send in "advisers" to help the South side. But the U.s started to send more and more advisers to the war and it started to look as if they were sending soldiers. The U.S wasn't totally involved in the war because they were just helping out the South side by sending them supplies and things so they could fight it on their own. The U.S also said hey had a guy who was on their side over there, which was the leader of the South side, Ngo Diem. He was kind of war happy because he didn't really know the difference between someone who was communist and someone who was not, so he would just kill everyone. This sparked protest in the U.S and eventually the ARVN, with the approval of the CIA, overthrew and killed him.
