Ronald Reagan: President of the US from 1981-1989
Ronald Reagan was the President that oversaw the end of the Cold War. He gave the famous speech "Tear Down this Wall," when he went to Berlin and gave a speech about how they needed to tear down the wall and reunited West Berlin and East Berlin. When the wall was torn down it was a huge symbolic event. It represented that there was an approaching end to communism. Reagan was able to successfully convince Gorbachev to tear down the wall.

End of the USSR and the Cold War:
Once the wall came down communism started to crumble. The USSR started to fall and they took on more democratic and capitalist characteristics. The USSR either gave up or lost control over Eastern Europe and they went on to become their own countries. Gorbachev knew the Soviet Union was crumbling, so he made some changes:
