JFK and the Bay of pigs
JFK:
John F. Kennedy was the youngest candidate to run for president. He was only 43. He was Roman Catholic, which was going against a lot of the people's beliefs since they were protestant. He was also good looking, which won him a lot of the women's votes. JFK was also a very good camera person, he was confident and collected when he was on camera. His competitor, Nixon, was not very good on camera. There was also a story that said he was a WWII hero. The story was that he was an air force pilot and he crash landed along with other air force pilots and the other guys were injured and couldn't moved so he took a coconut and scrawled an S.O.S message, and then proceeded to give it to the natives living there who then relayed it to the U.S and they re able tot send help and save the stranded men.

Khrushchev:
He was the new leader of the Soviet Union after Stalin. The Soviet Union was very close with Cuba and their leader, Fidel Castro. Khrushchev was a military man because they don't vote for a new leader, a new leader is appointed, and he happened to be on elf the highest ranking military men. Since the soviet Union and Cuba were allies this worried the U.S because Cuba is not too far from the U.S.

Bay of Pigs:
The Bay of Pigs was when the U.S made an attempt to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro. This attempt was unsuccessful and resulted in broken relations with Cuba. The U.S failed because Fidel Castro saw it coming before it actually happened. Now the U.S was uneasy with Cuba because they are only about 50 miles from the U.S and then the Cuban Missile Crisis started.
